Hexanaut.io turns snake-style movement into a fight for territory on a huge hexagonal map. Leave your safe zone, draw a trail through unclaimed space, then return to your territory to enclose and capture new tiles. The catch is that your exposed trail can be cut by another player, sending you back to the start.
How to Play Hexanaut.io
Use your mouse to move around the map. Start from your territory and venture outside it to create a trail. When you return to your existing territory, the enclosed hexagons become yours. Larger expansions can give you more control of the map, but they also leave a longer trail for opponents to attack.
Five Totems add different tactical options
- Spreading Totem: Sends out lasers that capture hexagons one by one
- Speed Totem: Increases your movement speed by 5%
- Teleporting Gate: Lets you travel between gates across the map
- Slowing Totem: Creates an area that heavily slows other players
- Spy Dish: Reveals the territories controlled by other players
Controls

Become the Hexanaut
The main milestone is controlling 20% of the map. Reach that amount to become the Hexanaut, then keep more than 20% territory for two minutes to win. Until then, every expansion is a balance between claiming more land and keeping your trail safe.
If another player reaches your trail while you are outside your territory, you are eliminated. This makes smaller, carefully planned expansions useful when opponents are nearby. Teleporting Gates and Totems can also change how you approach territory control.
