Last Light is a 2D strategy game that traps you inside a dark, overrun underground research facility. To escape, you must fight your way up through seven dangerous floors populated by aggressive mutated victims while carefully managing limited coins and electricity.
Power Grid Management and Nightly Survival
Survival depends on balancing daytime exploration with midnight defenses. During the day, search abandoned research desks to find color-coded keycards that unlock upper floors and basement areas. Follow question mark icons across the map to discover unlit objects or interactive items.
Your power consumption directly impacts safety. Electricity powers essential facility systems, including doors, room lights, and elevators
- Overloaded Grids: Running too many electrical systems causes power surges
- Basement Resets: When an overload occurs, alarms sound and immediate zombie breaches trigger until you reach the basement switches to restore power
- Midnight Waves: When midnight strikes, aggressive mutant swarms flood the corridors, forcing you into high-stakes defense

Tactical Defenses and Arsenal Progression
Before the nightly siege arrives, secure narrow hallway chokepoints with stationary turrets to damage mutant hordes early. You can also drag vending machines into doorway entrances to build sturdy temporary barricades.
Coins collected from laboratory containers and defeated mutants fund essential upgrades. Prioritize weapon damage and character stats early before investing heavily in extra structures. Weapon proficiency and combat mastery persist across attempts, making future escape runs more manageable. Select your starting difficulty from Easy, Normal, or Hard to test your resource management skills.
