Finding a needle in a haystack is usually a figure of speech. Needle in a Haystack turns it into a playable challenge, putting you inside a first-person 3D pile containing 1.5 million straws of hay and ten hidden needles. Your goal is simple: find them all as quickly as possible without wasting your chances to dig.
Search the Haystack
Once you enter the pile, the surrounding hay makes searching difficult. A hot-and-cold detector helps narrow things down by ticking faster when you move closer to a needle. You can also remove hay to uncover new areas, but your supply of removable hay is limited, so random digging can quickly work against you.
There is another useful clue. If a block flashes green when you try to remove it, a needle is hiding on that block. Finding a needle earns coins, which you can take to the merchant and exchange for power-ups.

Dig Carefully and Use Shovels
Needle in a Haystack adds another layer of resource management through shovels. Keep an eye out for them because they let you remove more hay before you lose. The game tracks found needles on the right side of the screen, while failed attempts are counted on the left.
Found needles can also be clicked on from the collection area to give one up in exchange for a few more chances to remove hay from your current haystack. That makes each discovery part of the decision-making process rather than simply a collectible.
